Marcos Ambrose Motorsport Duo Set for Caraway
The Marcos Ambrose Motorsport pair of Ben Rhodes and David Garbo Jr. return to UARA Stars Series competition at Caraway Raceway this weekend, with the Stanley Fords looking to convert recent speed into a race victory.
The latest UARA round at Newport Speedway resulted in a fifth place finish for Rhodes, which came hot on the heels of a flying second place finish at Hickory Motor Speedway.
For Garbo Jr. meanwhile, the event marks the perfect opportunity for him to better his previous best UARA result of fifth, which was scored in the Banjo Matthews Memorial at Hickory.
Since that event, Garbo Jr. has returned to his roots, winning several Legends Cars features, including four victories in six rounds of the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Qualifying will be important for this weekend’s event, with Rhodes looking to repeat his pole position from the Kingsport Speedway round in May.
“We had a really good finish at Newport Speedway,” Rhodes said. “After getting spun, the team really rallied together and we were able to drive back up through the field to finish fifth, getting the Rookie of the Race award.
“I am looking forward to going back to Caraway Speedway. We raced there a few weeks ago, and our UARA set-up is strong, so we should be fast this weekend.”
At just under half a mile in length, Caraway is one of the faster venues on the UARA Stars schedule, with Garbo Jr. looking forward to the prospect of competing at the historic venue.
“I have been getting in plenty of race miles in recent weeks with some success, so I hope to keep it going for Marcos Ambrose Motorsport this weekend,” Garbo Jr. said. “I’m still new to late model racing, but the team has been a great help, and I’m learning with every single session.
“It’s been great to work with Ben, and I think after the result at Hickory, we should be racing at the front this weekend.”
The 150 lap main event at Caraway Raceway on Saturday begins at 8:00pm, following an on track autograph session.
