The UARA Top Ten Countdown - 7th Garrett Campbell

Garrett Campbell and his family have been firm members of the UARA family for three years. Campbell first appeared on the UARA circuit in 2008. He has proved to be a strong competitor and a good friend to all his fellow racers.

Campbell raced late model trucks for a season at Caraway before making the leap to late model stock cars with the UARA in 2008.

His first race with the UARA was the season opener at Concord in March of 2008. His car had been loose during the day and during his qualifying attempt he got up on the wall bounced down and never let up. He gave it his all and had the fans off their seats with a view of the bottom of his car. Doc Love immediately branded Campbell as "Mr. Excitement". Unfortunately for Campbell he did not start the feature event that day but competed in eleven UARA races in 2008. He followed that up by running complete UARA schedule for 2009 & 2010.

The Campbell racing team is family oriented with father Scott, mother Denise and grandfather Don always present and helping the crew.

Campbell has been fast for the past two years now in the series, but just hasn't been able to put all the pieces together. Last year it was qualifying that was a thorn in his side. That all changed when he got his first UARA Sunoco pole position at Myrtle Beach on June 19, 2010 then followed that up with the pole position at Concord on August 7th and another at Dillon on August 28.

The highlight of Campbell's career came when he achieved his ultimate goal. Campbell not only sat on the pole but he brought home his first UARA win at Concord Speedway on August 7th. Campbell led 111 of the 150 laps at that event. Campbell was a dominant factor at Concord. He made his competitors take notice as to just what a strong competitor he can be. He also led laps at Myrlte Beach and Dillon with a total of 179 overall laps led in 2010.

"I think that the UARA is a great place to start your career as a racecar driver. I have enjoyed running the UARA because you get so much experience from racing at a track like Newport to running the 1 mile at Rockingham. There are no for sure plans for us in 2011 but we have a couple of deals under the works." Campbell said.

His 2010 finishes were 21st (1), 18th (1), 16th (1), 15th (3), 12th (2), 10th (1), 9th (1), 7th (2), 4th (2), 2nd (1) and 1st (1).

Look for Campbell to be in action this coming weekend at Myrtle Beach Speedway.
