The UARA Top Ten Countdown - 6th Scott Turlington
Scott Turlington is a mild mannered driver out of Richmond, VA. Mid-Atlantic Racing (MAR) was started in 1998 by owners Craig & Jean Turlington, Scott's parents. Since then MAR has grown into a competitive Late Model Stock Car racing organization. Driver Scott Turlington is quickly adapting to various tracks along the UARA tour and the team is gaining serious knowledge of chassis setup and shock design.
Turlington's racing career started at Southside Speedway in the Grand Stock/Charger cars in 1999. He made the move into Late Model Sportsman division in 2002. Started racing LMSC at South Boston Speedway in 2005. Prior to his UARA debut Turlington had 3 LMS Wins at Southside Speedway. He was Rookie of the Year in 2002 and was also voted as the Most Popular Driver in 2002.
Turlington made his racing debut with the UARA at Concord in March of 2008 and has been a strong contender for the past three years. Turlington has been in the final top ten in points all three years he has been racing with the UARA. In 2008 he was tenth in points. Turlington was the Holley Performer of the Year with the UARA in 2008.
2009 found Turlington coming home with a ninth place point finish. Even with the ninth place ending, Turlington had an up and down year in 2009 and was presented with the Tiger Need A Break Award at the UARA banquet. This award was for a quick change rearend.
Dwaine Skinnel joined the team in 2009 as crew chief and the changes were quickly evident at the track. Robert Wood, Shorty Carlton, Mitsy Skinnel, John Kirby, Cody Kirby and Buck Reuss complete the MAR team with the Turlington's.
Turlington's third year with the UARA brought him home with a sixth place final point standings. Turlington's 2010 finishes were 23rd (1), 16th (1), 15th (1), 13 (1), 11th (1), 9th (2), 8th (2), 7th (3), 6th (1) and 5th (3). It was a strong season for Turlington.
