Anderson Motor Speedway Next Stop for the UARA-STARS
The UARA-STARS will be in action Friday June 3, 2011 at Anderson Motor Speedway. The UARA has run the Anderson Motor Speedway in the past and this will be their first visit back to the track since August of 2005. The STARS have run eight events at the 3/8th mile oval with plenty of paint swapping, fender rubbing action to thrill the fans. The driver names and faces have changed over the years but the action will still be full speed in the 150 lap special.
Racing with the UARA STARS at Anderson Motor Speedway will be the BM Modifieds, Front Wheel Drives and B Minis to give the fans a full night of excitement. These divisions have had strong fields of cars so far in 2011.
Local Late Model Stock drivers Anthony Anders, Justin Sorrow, Ralph Carnes and R.A. Brown are a few of the early entrants for the event to join the UARA regulars.
Current point leader Brennan Poole has been hot at the tracks. Poole finished 2010 as the driver with the most wins in a single season and has taken up where he left off. Thus far in 2011 Poole has won three of the four events that have been run. Garrett Campbell is the only driver to take a win from Poole. With many capable drivers running the series in 2011 and the local talent on board, Campbell will not be alone in his quest to upset Poole's record. The UARA track record at AMS is 15.804 set in May of 2005 by former Champion Lee Tissot.
Rookie point leader George Miedecke has Poole in his sights and will be coming to Anderson with a determination to win. Miedecke didn't set idle during the break in the UARA schedule. He ran an ARCA road course race for Venturini Motorsports. Miedecke qualified third and was leading the race, however he was passed in the final turn before the white flap lap by Andrew Ranger as a lapped car played into the action.
Three UARA events that have been under question are tentatively confirmed. The rain date for the March 26, 2011 Concord event has been rescheduled for October 29, 2011. We are pleased to announce that Celebrity's Hot Dogs of Concord will be the sponsor of that 150 lap event.
The North Wilkesboro race June 18th is still a go. North Wilkesboro is in the process of reorganization and trying to get all in place for the UARA event. UARA president Kerry Bodenhamer has been working feverishly with North Wilkesboro promotors giving support to the Speedway in all ways possible.
The Tri County race July 29th is also still in place. Tri County has ceased to run their weekly series events but still have plans to run special events including the UARA that are on the schedule.
