UARA Season Opener March 12th
With the season opener less than three weeks away the UARA continues to gather up new contingency sponsors for the benefit of the series and drivers. Monday 2/14/11 the UARA signed Phantom Racing Products on as a contingency sponsor and has two more prospective newcomers negotiating at press time. Racers are competitive by nature, and Phantom parts provide a competitive advantage with spring rubbers and bump stop systems. Phantom Racing Products combines the skills and experience of two proven winners. Mercer Race Car Engineering and Steele Rubber Products. By combining the commitment to quality and success of both companies, Phantom Racing has developed the most successful line of rubber racing parts in the industry.
We have in past weeks been introducing drivers who are joining the UARA-STARS for 2011.
Jeremy Burns of Simpsonville, SC is one of those drivers. Burns made his debut run with the UARA-STARS at Greenville Pickens in 2008. His next race with the UARA would also be at Greenville in 2010. He started at the age of 17 in the renegade V8 division winning eleven races in one season. Reflecting on starting his racing career at that age, Burns said "It's never too late to start chasing your dreams". He then progressed to the Late Model division where he won Rookie of the Year his first Late Model season. In 2010 he won the SH Carter special event at Greenville. Burns is also quoted as saying "Everything that you do behind the wheel is something to learn from. Sometimes you have to fail in order to succeed." He has also raced at Hickory Motor Speedway, Tri County Speedway and Anderson Speedway. His thoughts on 2011 with the UARA, "Many of the tracks UARA is running this year, we are very strong at. Hoping to maybe have a bible run."
Adam Long of Pounding Mill, VA is one more of the newcomers to the UARA. Long has been racing a total of five years with two years in the LMSC division. Long has been practicing at some of the UARA scheduled tracks for 2011 like Hickory, Newport and Kingsport in recent weeks. Long has the guidance of crew chief Marc Fryar and team manager Ed Berrier helping him. He said " I am excited about 2011 and feel I have a better shot at winning than I have in the past. Qualifying on time for the big Myrtle Beach race gave me a good boost of confidence."
2011 proves to be an exciting year for the STARS with a good mix of new drivers and our outstanding series veterans. This will be the UARA-STARS tenth season.
The UARA-STARS will be in action March 12, 2011 at Hickory Motor Speedway.
