The UARA Top Ten Countdown - 1st Coleman Pressley

Where to start is the question to consider when talking about Coleman Pressley. Pressley is an easy going young man who almost always has a smile on his face and his manners up front for all to see. He is also know to be a trickster that you many want to keep your eye on. All in all he is one fun loving guy. Pressley is strongly rooted to family and is seen many times with his dad Robert, mom Gina and little sister Shelby always close by.

Pressley is carrying on the legacy of his famous racing family. His grandfather Bob Pressley is one of the best know short track drivers in the southeast. Bob Pressley passed away in April 2004 and left behind a legacy for all the racing community to behold. Following in Bob Pressley's shoes were all of his sons, but it was his oldest son Robert Pressley who made a name for himself in the NASCAR racing community racing in all three of NASCAR's premiere series.

Coleman Pressley grew up with guys like Steve Wallace, Kyle Grissom and Brandon McReynolds. They were all best friends. They raced scooters in the motor home lots at many a speedway. That was their neighborhood / home away from home during there growing years.

Also as a young boy, Pressley raced Bandolero and Legend cars. He would later go on to race Late Models. Not to be outdone by his father or grandfather, Coleman Pressley is moving along with his career by achieving one of his top goals. That goal was to win the UARA championship.

Pressley had his debut race with the UARA in Hickory NC on March 17, 2007 and came home with a respective fourth place finish. He would not return to the UARA until March 2009 at Bristol Motor Speedway where he would begin his quest for a good top ten run in the UARA point battle.

Pressley has had a consistent 2010 season with all but one race being finished in the top ten. His average finish for 2010 was a 4.75 which is by no means anything to frown at. His 2010 finishes were (1) 1st, (3) 2nd, (3) 3rd, (2) 4th, (2) 5th, (1) 6th, (1) 7th, (1) 8th, (1) 10th and (1) 11th. Pressley accumulated several race awards throughout 2010.

He set the Sunoco Pole two times, once at Kingsport and once at Hickory. He led the most laps at Kingsport and Hickory as well. He received the G Force Shift of the Race four times. That was accomplished at Tri County, Kingsport, Greenville Pickens and Rockingham. This award is presented to the driver who gains the most positions during a race.

Pressley also received the ARbodies Hard Luck award two times. On May 29, 2010 after 149 laps of rough-and-tumble racing at Newport Speedway, something broke under Pressley’s car, sending the machine that seemed destined for victory lane into a tailspin that ended against the outside wall. When Pressley’s car finally emerged from turn 4, however, it was hooked to the back of a tow truck. This took away Pressley's chance of coming home as the first repeat winner of 2010 for the UARA. His second ARbodies award will come at Lonesome Pine Raceway once again while he is in the lead, contact with another driver is made and his hopes of a repeat win will go away for the second time.

In a recent interview Pressley is quoted as saying, " We had a good year, obviously winning the Championship. That was our goal going in at the beginning of the year and we accomplished it. It is always fun running with Brennan (Poole), Kyle (Grissom) and Alex Yontz and watching the progression of Robert Johnson and Ronnie Bassett, Jr. I enjoyed racing with them and at the end of the year I feel that the UARA is as strong as it has been in years past, although some may have said it wasn't at the beginning of the year by the end of the year all the guys were good. We had a good season like I said. My dad, Carroll, Dan and Jerry they all worked their tails off and I couldn't have done it without them. It's my first championship, so that's exciting to have it happen in the UARA. As far as next year goes, I want to run Nationwide or the truck series, but if economics doesn't turn around, we will keep running our late model and try to win another championship and be a repeat UARA champion. I gotta be the first one to get three and beat Matt McCall."

Look to hear many good things about Coleman Pressley in the future throughout the racing community. So folks to put it plain and simple The UARA Champion is Coleman Pressley!! That pretty much says it all. He has made his mark and will continue to do so.
