UARA Thankful for Sponsors and Fans
Automobile racing is a fan and sponsor driven sport. The
UARA is most appreciative of each and every one of
theirs. The UARA has been blessed with returning
sponsors year after year and new ones coming along for
the ride each season. With sponsorship the UARA is able
to continue to promote the best Late Model Stock Drivers
in the Southeast.

The UARA-STARS fan base broadens with each season as
well. During the Most Popular driver online vote for
2009 the expansion of the fan base was quite evident.
Votes were rolling in from as far away as Alaska.
Twenty-seven states voted in the contest.
This is just proof of just how far reaching the UARA
has

racers, sponsors and fans to be able to reach out beyond
the Southeast to show what a great series we have
become.

UARA Preparing for Banquet Honoring 2009’s Most
Outstanding Drivers
Not only will the UARA be honoring 2009 Champion Matt
McCall and Rookie of the Year Brennan Poole; they will
also be honoring some of the nations most outstanding
drivers to hit the track.
This weeks feature drivers will be the third through
tenth place point finishers.
Brandon McReynolds shows his good nature and
determination at the track. He had an up and down season
but put in great effort with the guidance of crew chief
Nick Hutchins. McReynolds brought home eleven top ten
finishes. Not only did he have good finishes he had a
very impressive three wins in a very tough playing
field. McReynolds is the only driver with three wins in
2009. B.J. Mackey was the last driver to accomplish that
in 2007.
Coleman Pressley is the tender-hearted driver that was
born and bred for racing. Following in the footsteps of
his father Robert and grandfather Bob, he can only be
great. Pressley takes the chips as they fall. If he has
a bad day at the track, he just picks himself up and
says what went wrong and let’s work to make it better.
Pressley finishes the season in the fourth position with
two wins under his belt and like McReynolds he brings
home eleven top ten finishes.
Paddy Rodenbeck is the fifth place finisher. Rodenbeck
had eight top ten finishes in 2009 with two wins.
Rodenbeck’s wins came at Concord and Hickory. Rodenbeck
is a quiet young man with a heavy foot. If all is going
well he will put that car of his out front. If he isn’t
in the front he will definitely give his competition a
good run for the money.
Bringing home sixth place in the 2009 points is Garrett
Campbell. This young man continues to show great
improvement race after race. Campbell’s highest finish
was third but it is just a matter of time before the #12
car is in the winner’s circle. Campbell had ten top ten
finishes.
This team will be a force to reckon with in the coming
2010 racing season.
Seventh in the 2009 points was Kyle Grissom. Grissom
like Coleman Pressley was born to race.
Grissom is under the watchful eye of his father and
grandfather, Steve and Wayne. Grissom is a former UARA
Rookie of the Year (2005) and he knows just how to
handle a car and how to put it to the front. Grissom had
nine top ten finishes and one win at Dillon to his
credit in 2009. Lady luck was rather mean to Grissom at
times during 2009 but the team carried forward and would
prevail. They will be strong in 2010 and will be right
up front once again.
Rookie of the Year Brennan Poole finished the season out
in eighth place and was the feature driver of the week
on December 2, 2009. Poole ran the season with the never
give up attitude, a smile on his face and determination
in his heart He has proven himself to be an adversary to
be reckoned with. Poole with his great runs managed to
be the Rookie of the Race seven out of sixteen times in
2009.
Scott Turlington of Richmond, VA completed his second
year as a UARA driver. Turlington and his team are
widely liked by the competition. Turlington faced many
encounters with Lady “bad” Luck in 2009 but managed to
bring home two top ten finishes and a ninth place point
finish to his credit. His season ended with the team
pulling together, accessing their progress and
determining what actions would be necessary to bring him
to the front for 2010. The Turlington team will be a
team to watch in 2010.
Rounding out the top ten for 2009 was Rookie contender
Michael Rouse. Rouse and his team worked hard throughout
the year. At some races it would be a very small crew on
hand but with a lot of determination to be competitive.
Rouse finished second in the Rookie points for 2009. He
was Rookie of the race three times. Rouse brought home
four top ten finishes.

Jamey Caudill, The Driver with the Most Wins in UARA
History
This weeks featured UARA driver of the week is Four
Oaks, NC driver: Jamey Caudill.
For the second time in his racing career Jamey Caudill
has finished second in the
UARA Championship points. To finish that high in the
UARA points twice is quite a feat.
Matt McCall is the man who was first to Caudill both
times. These two drivers have had an awesome racing
career side by side with a fierce competition flowing
between them.

Caudill has won more races than
any other driver in the history of the UARA. He has set
the record with a very impressive 13 wins to his credit.
Not only does he hold the record for wins, he also has
the record for the most Sunoco poles in the UARA
history. Caudill has claimed that honor with an
outstanding seventeen poles to add to his already
impressive resume.
Caudill concluded his 2009 UARA racing season with two
wins, two Sunoco Poles, three KLB Race Cars & Parts
outside poles, one Sonic Most Lap Lead award, four
second place finishes, and three G-Force South Shift of
the Race awards.
Caudill is a quiet man in the pits but his thunder roars
when he hits the track. Caudill is always one of the men
to beat at any event he enters. He will give his
competition some serious challenges. Caudill will be
right near the front during most of a race and then when
it comes to crunch time he starts his challenge. He will
pick competitors off one by one and the next thing they
know he has left them in his dust.
The UARA will honor Caudill and his fellow top ten
drivers at the 2009 UARA Championship Banquet Saturday,
January 16, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza in Hickory, NC.

Brennan Poole Wins UARA Rookie of the Year Honors

Featured driver of the week: Eighteen-year-old Brennan
Poole of The Woodlands, Texas
Poole captured the UARA Rookie of the Year for 2009 with
some stiff competition alongside him.
John King II lead the rookie challenge for the first
four UARA events in 2009 followed by Matthew Godley for
the next six events. Poole took the lead for the final
six events clinching the title.
Poole finished the year with his season best finish of
second to his roommate Coleman Pressley at Concord at
the season finale. Poole and Pressley put on a fantastic
show for the fans in the final laps running side by
side.
Poole captured a KLB Race Cars and Parts outside pole at
Dillon Motor Speedway during the May event there. At
this race, Poole not only had the outside pole but also
led a lap before relinquishing it to Jamey Caudill.
Poole had a stop and go penalty early in the race. He
showed the strength he has and his driving capability by
coming from the rear of the field back up to fifth place
before falling to the wayside with engine failure.
Poole ran the season with the never give up attitude, a
smile on his face and determination in his heart
He has proven himself to be an adversary to be reckoned
with. Poole with his great runs managed to be the Rookie
of the Race seven out of sixteen times in 2009.
"It feels great to pick up the rookie of the year
award," said Poole. “My team was always positive and
believed in me. I feel blessed by God to have such an
awesome team. I can't thank Jamie Yelton, David King,
Jerry Dickerson, Jason Goforth, Seth Smith, Dave Moore,
Wayne Ingle, Greg Marlowe, Kevin Blanks and Nathan
"Cookie" Eller enough for their support. They are truly
my best friends. Now we'll see what we can put together
over the off season and come back next year and be up
there battling with Matt McCall (2009 Champion) for the
championship."
Poole should be more than capable to give the UARA
veterans and upcoming rookies a run for the championship
in 2010.

Matt
McCall Captures His Second UARA Championship
Not only did Matt
McCall accomplish what many drivers dream of capturing the UARA
Championship,
he has done it twice. The UARA will be
featuring the Champion, Rookie of the Year and the Top
Ten drivers in the coming weeks press releases.

McCall started out the 2009 season in winning form. He
took the checkered flag at the season opener at Bristol
Motor Speedway. McCall won that event in his true
championship style. He lead 97 of the 106 laps only
relinquishing the lead for 9 laps to 2008 UARA Champion
Jake Crum.
He
continued on to have four total wins in 2009, one
second, three third, one fourth, one fifth, two sixth,
two tenth and two 21st place finishes to
complete his season. It was an up and down season for
McCall. He never gave up and would continue his
challenge for the lead and accomplish his goal.
Not
only did McCall win at Bristol his other victories came
at Orange County Speedway, Lonesome Pine Raceway and Tri
County Speedway. McCall also claimed four Sunoco Pole
positions in 2009. These were achieved at Bristol Motor
Speedway, Rockingham Speedway, Orange County Speedway
and Lonesome Pine Raceway.
McCall took the point lead at the season opener at
Hickory Motor Speedway in March. He would maintain that
lead until race number four at Tri County where young
Paddy Rodenbeck would take over with a ten point lead.
Race number five would find McCall’s leading competitor
for the title, Jamey Caudill taking the point. Caudill
would lead McCall by 22 points. After the Orange County
win McCall took the point lead back over never to give
it up again. This was not an easy Championship victory
for McCall. Jamey Caudill was constantly breathing down
his neck. In the end McCall would come home victor with
a 46-point advantage.
McCall not only had the UARA regulars to contend with
but also the challenge of 103 different drivers
throughout the season.
McCall will make an excellent Champion once again for
the UARA series.
CONGRATULATIONS MATT McCALL !!!
