Anytime Fitness,
Courtesy Chevrolet 150 at Kingsport

The UARA-STARS are heading to Kingsport Speedway for the much-anticipated race that will be run there this Saturday, November 7th. The last time the UARA visited the Kingsport Speedway was in 2002. The date was August 9, 2002 and it was a very young Danny O’Quinn that took the pole position with a time of 15.438. O’Quinn was also the winner of that event.

The Anytime Fitness, Courtesy Chevrolet 150 is being presented by Choroideremia Research Foundation. UARA and Kingsport employees have been working the past few weeks getting the speedway ready for this exciting event.

Racing along with the UARA-STARS will be the Street Stock and Pure Four divisions. The Street Stocks will have a 30-lap feature and the Pure Fours are scheduled for 25 laps.

Drivers and fans alike are excited about returning to the speedway. Several UARA teams have visited the track for practice sessions. Kyle Grissom, Grant McGinnis, Brennan Poole, Zeke Shell, Wade Day, Wayne Hale and Mardy Roberts have all visited the track to check it out. With each practice session the fans have dropped in to see the action.

Grissom said: “It is tight – the tightest track I think I have ever been on- but it is going to be good.”

Coming down to the wire for the Championship, Kingsport will be an even playing ground for all the drivers. No one will have a track advantage at Kingsport, especially since the track has been closed for so long. This will be the next to last UARA 2009 race.

Bloomingdale Car Care has posted a special award. The pole winner will receive a $ 50.00 bonus if he/she breaks the track late model record of 15.236. If the pole winner qualifies below the 15.000-second mark then the bonus will double to $100.00.

Another special award for the Kingsport Race will be the Racerslounge.com Best Appearing Car Award / presented by Showcall.

The UARA will have an open practice for UARA-STARS late model cars only on Friday in preparation for the Saturday event. This session will run from 10 am until 5 p.m.

The tentative race day schedule is:
7:30 am Pit Gates Open
11:00 am Grandstand Gates Open
12:00 p.m. UARA Qualifying
2:00 p.m. Racing Begins

Rain Prevails at UARA Concord Event

The UARA-STARS rolled into Concord Speedway in force only to be out powered by Mother Nature on Halloween. The STARS had a big day planned with all kinds of Halloween activities and costume contests only to be dampened out. A UARA Queen for the Day did make an appearance in the pits along with witches, penguins and ghouls.

The Concord event has been rescheduled for November 14th and will now become the season finale Champion race for both the UARA-STARS and the Pro Challenge Series. The Allison Legacy cars have a full schedule ahead and will not be able to return for the November 14th race at Concord.

The STARS came in twenty-four strong and were geared for a super event. The Championship is coming down to the wire and the action will be fierce in these final races. There is a good chance more entries will be at the November 14th event.

The UARA cars had qualified before the rains came. An attempt to run the race on Sunday was also rained out. The moisture just wouldn’t go away, try as the officials may to dry to track- it just wasn’t meant to be.

When the STARS return to Concord on November 14th cars will practice, qualifying etc at that time like it was a new event. There was no way to impound cars from this past weekend due to the upcoming Kingsport race this Saturday.

The Pro Challenge cars had a strong sixteen-car field, some coming as far away as Canada to close out their championship. It will be an exciting time for both divisions and sure to be two great races for the fans.
