Year End Results The season ended on a very positive note for many drivers within the UARA-Stars series. THE UARA-STARS hosted 115 different late model stock drivers in 2006 and a staggering 236 support division drivers came on board to make our shows the success that they were. Along with all the fans that accompany these many drivers, the UARA-STARS traveled throughout five different states in 2006. 2006 series Champion Brandon Ward completed 2184 laps throughout the season out of a possible 2288. That is a completion rate of over 95%. As with many a sport, consistency is a major plus when competing. Ward is followed by Alex Yontz 2138, Jamie Yelton 2135, Kyle Grissom 2105 and Justin Hill 2076 total laps run. With numbers like these, the experience these young drivers received is priceless. They have all gained a wealth of knowledge about running at various speedways, with different weather conditions and track sizes. Jamie Yelton of Spindale won the Sonic Award for most laps lead well ahead of runner up Alex Yontz. Jamie led a mind boggling 711 laps with Yontz leading 313 for the year. That gave Jamie a 33% average of leading any given race. Quite an impressive number in any standards. Melling Select Rookie of the Year Barry Andrews also showed how impressive he can be by gaining 150 positions during the year netting him the honor of also being the Holley Performer of the Year. Third place Melling Select Rookie contender Lucas Ransone won the Competition Cams Award for Most Improved Driver of the Year. Lucas started the year off having one problem after another but once he shook that monkey off his back he made some very strong runs including a second place finish at Coastal Plains. Ransone’s second place finish made him the highest finisher of all the rookies for the year. The efforts of Ransone and the never give up attitude that he and his team have landed him 8th overall in points. The staff of the UARA-STARS are working steadily on the 2007 racing schedule. We have been on the road working with speedway promoters and getting contracts signed. We hope to have our schedule near completion before the PRI show in Orlando mid December. We are also working on getting our contingency sponsorships lined up for 2007. Many of our previous sponsors will be on board again in 2007 and we look forward to adding some new ones as well. These sponsors are a major part of our growth and the growth of our racers. The UARA-STARS take this time to thank our sponsors and to congratulate our drivers on a job well done.
