UARA STARS News Roush Racing Driver Danny O’Quinn to compete in UARA STARS 150 at Southern National Raceway Park
O’Quinn and West joined forces in 2005 after three races had already been completed. O’Quinn was able to climb his way to a sixth place finish in the UARA STARS points standings with one win and ten top ten finishes in thirteen starts.
O’Quinn was also the 2002 UARA STARS Champion plus many other Championships and a long list of wins. O’Quinn was a finalist in the Roush Gong show that has landed him the ride of a lifetime with Roush Racing. O’Quinn ran strong at Southern National last season and would have to be a pre-race favorite.
Kyle Grissom, coming off a strong win in the UARA STARS season opener at Hickory Motor Speedway will try to add to his points lead at Southern National while Jamey Yelton, Ross Furr, Alex Yontz and Clay Jones will try to redeem themselves after running strong and coming up short at the end of the race.
Yelton claimed his fifth UARA STARS SUNOCO Pole Award and lead the most laps in the season opener but fell victim to a crash that was not his fault and cost him two laps to make repairs. Yelton a pre season pick to win the chase should bounce back with a strong performance at Southern National. Jones was also a victim of someone else’s wreck after leading several laps in his first UARA STARS start. Jones driving the Jerry Moody I-Dig Pigs Ford Fusion should be strong also; Moody’s team has many wins at Southern National with Jamey Caudill behind the wheel, so finding the perfect setup should not be a problem.
Others with good finish’s at Hickory that hope to continue their chase for the Championship include; Brandon Ward who qualified in forth and raced in the top five along with JR Franks, RA Brown, Rookie contenders KC Cunningham and Jake Crum.
Don’t forget to join Danny O’Quinn and all the other Drivers in UARA STARS for the Autograph Session at 7:00 pm on the front stretch. This is an opportunity for all the fans to meet and talk to the Drivers before racing action begins.
Pit gates open at 9:00, with UARA practice beginning at 11:00. Local practice for support classes will get under way at 2:45, grandstand gates open at 4:30, qualifying for all classes at 5:00, autograph session at 7:00 and racing at 8:00. Support divisions include Limited Late Models 25 laps, Street Stocks 25 laps, and 4 cylinders 25 laps.
