Jamie Yelton is ready for 2006 UARA STARS season

( March 12Th Newton, NC)  UARA-STARS Championship contender Jamie Yelton hit the track Thursday at Hickory to prepare for the 2006 UARA racing season. Jamie who came off a disappointing 2005 season, scoring only one victory, is pumped and ready for 2006.

" The car was fast right out of the trailer, we ran some low 15:20's on a three lap mock qualifying run, we didn't tape up or anything but we felt real good on how the car drove. I feel like we are the best we ever been to start the season off" stated Yelton. " Our motor program is improving and the car never fell off much, I think the worst we ran on a 20 lap run was low 40's and it drove real good. We then tried some different spring and bar combos to see what the car would do on old tires and we feel great about the runs".

Last year Jamie won the Fall Brawl at Hickory, but came up short on the UARA tour. In 2004 he was runner up in the Championship chase, after leading alot of the season, winning Two races and he had three Sunoco Poles. His goal for 2006 is to get his crew, the Forest City Badboys, and himself back to his winning ways and let the points come to him with good finishes. " The UARA is a tough series, there are alot of teams that can win and some teams could go back to the local tracks and dominate. We were off last year and feel like we can bounce back and be up front this year. I have alot of faith in my crew and crew cheif, David King, I know it will not be easy to win every week, but thats my goal. The UARA draws the best drivers that know that the series is tough, that's why they choose to race in the series. Look at Danny Quinn and Matt McCall, both past Champs and Steven Wallace who won poles and races with the tour, all have moved on, I feel the tour helped them. I dont think any one team will dominate, it's a tough series", Yelton stated.

UARA runs a sixteen race schedule starting off March 18th at Hickory and ending up back at Hickory on October 28th for the seasons final race. The series will visit Hickory, Southern National, Orange County, Coastal Plains and Tri-County all in North Carolina. In South Carolina the series will race at Myrtle Beach, Greenville-Pickens and Florence. In Virginia races will be held at Motor Mile, Shenandoah and Southampton. The series will visit for the first time Lanier Speedway in Georgia.

The UARA races on Goodyear tires and Jamie Yelton felt the tires for  2006 are right on the money. " We felt like the 2602 tire is a great choice, today the tire temps were where we wanted to see them, the air pressures grew equal, the wear was great, after all the laps we ran today on new tires, as they got more laps on them it never had a great big drop in lap times like some tires do. I think these tires will stay under us for the 150 lap events we have and not fall off. My hats off to the guys at Goodyear and UARA for working together to get us a great tire. The big thing is that now the UARA and Hickory is on the same tire, guys close to Hickory like me, can come here on off weeks and race and not have to change a thing, or have two different tires, all tracks should look at this tire, it will help them draw in some drivers from the tour" added Yelton.

Yelton also added that he has a new Marlowe car coming by the Myrtle Beach race.   " I talked to Greg Marlowe after selling my other car and we decided to go with one of his new cars this year. With all the experience that Greg has and his ability to win hundreds of races as a driver was a big key in going with a Marlowe race car. I know Greg, and I also know that he will be a big plus each week at the race track to get the new car dialed in. I look forward to getting it, and getting it to the track".

Look for a up date before the March 18th UARA race at Hickory about a new Marketing Partner for Jamie Yelton for the 2006 season. The addition of a national company will not only bring them to the UARA series, but it will also add to their NHRA and Nextel Cup programs. The long term goal is build an association with Jamie that can take him to the next level in racing. Plans as still in negations, but look to be signed by the first UARA event.
