UARA STARS honors drivers at Awards Banquet
Hickory, NC (January 15) - Concluding another successful season; UARA STARS Officials, Drivers, Families and Friends enjoyed a night of fellowship and awards Saturday Night at the Holiday Inn Resort, located in Hickory, NC.
UARA STARS distributed close to $50,000 in season-ending point fund monies and contingency awards to the champion and other competitors. "The Reedsville Rocket" Jason York took home over $20,000 in posted money and awards, being crowned the 2004 UARA STARS Champion.
York received a number of awards for his efforts in 2004. He earned $3000 for the Ronnie Thames Memorial by completing the most laps out all the drivers; he also received a body from ARP Bodies, was the recipient of the Contingency Connection Hurst Cup award and was voted the 2nd Annual Tracksidetalk.net Most Popular Driver of the Year.
KLB Racecars and Parts Car Owner of the Year award went to John York. The Holley Performance Performer of the Year went to Josh Adams. Robert Elliott climbed his way to the top of the East Tennessee Trailers Hard Charger of the Year Award by gaining the most spots of any driver. Terry Allison, Jr. received the Copeland Creek Cabins Need a Brake award and will receive a weekend break for his efforts in 2004.
Steve Wallace still celebrating his Snowball Derby victory that eluded his father Rusty, was on hand to receive the Hobart Sales and Service Rookie of the Year Title. Wallace received $3000 in cash along with a body from ARP Bodies for claiming the Rookie title.
Other awards went to Mark King, the UARA STARS Hard Luck Award, Brent Raymer was the 2004 Lucky Dog of the Year recipient, Tony Grady earned the Achiever of the Year Award, Nick Hutchins and Robert Elliott received the Tri-Star Uniform Awards, Ashley Huffman was voted the Most Improved Driver and Jamie Yelton brought home the SUNOCO Most Poles Award and the Sonic Performance Parts Most Laps Lead.
UARA STARS also released an impressive 2005 schedule. In addition to a return trip to Bristol Motor Speedway in September, the season will also include South Boston Speedway, Southern National Speedway and Old Dominion Speedway, all being the topic of discussion. UARA will open on Saturday March 19th, 2005 at Hickory Motor Speedway and will end at Hickory Motor Speedway in November.
UARA also announced the return sponsorship of East TN Trailers as the Official Trailer of the STARS, Holley Performance Performer of the Race, Tri-STARS Uniforms, Sonic, Goodyear, and SUNOCO fuels. Comp Cams will be a new addition, with other new sponsorships to be announced soon.
