Competition to be fierce at Lonesome Pine Speedway for UARA STARS Red Rose Hosiery 150

Coeburn, VA (August 14) – The highly competitive UARA STARS Late Model touring series will invade the beautiful mountains of Coeburn, VA this Saturday night at Lonesome Pine Speedway for the UARA STARS Red Rode Hosiery 150. Once again UARA has proved to be one of the most competitive series in the Southeast Region. 2005 has seen seven different winners in nine events.

UARA STARS points contenders Jamey Caudill and Matt McCall are the only repeat winners of 2005. McCall dominated the Food City 150 held earlier this season but fell out with mechanical problems with seven laps remaining. This allowed 2002 series champion Danny O’Quinn to collect the win at his hometown track.

McCall and O’Quinn both have been busy with the Rouch Gong show. Both drivers have made it to the finial twelve and both would have to be favored to wins this weekends 150 lap event.

2005 points leader Caudill can not be counted out; he has the most career poles of any other driver in UARA STARS and has been in the mix all season long.

Another strong competitor for this weekend’s race has to be Grundy, VA’s Keith Stiltner. Stiltner has more laps at the Pine than any other driver and has not qualified worse than sixth in the previous five UARA events held at the Speedway. Stiltner has also lead a lot of laps and been in position to win three of the five events.

Jamey Yelton has set on the SUNOCO Pole two out of the last three races and has led the most laps in the UARA events held. After setting out at Anderson, Yelton hopes to come back and put his team back on top with a win. “We have about fifteen or so different drivers that can win on any given night, this weekend’s race won’t be any different. It’s always a good show, so be sure to make plans to attend”, stated Public Relation Manager Harold Crook.

Racing action will begin with qualifying at 5:00 with UARA STARS, followed by the Aaron’s Pro Challenge Series. The UARA STARS Pit Party “Meet the drivers” will begin at 7:00 and racing to begin at 8:00. Other support classes to include Legends, Pure Fours, and Pure Stocks.
