STARS drivers ready to take Coastal Plains Raceway Park by Storm for Military Appreciation day presented by Stevenson Chevrolet
Jacksonville, NC (June 19) - Closing in on the half way mark of the 2005 season, UARA STARS drivers are closing in on the coast lines of east Carolina and will reach Jacksonville NC Saturday June 25th for Military Appreciation Day presented by Stevenson Chevrolet.
Matt McCall holds a fifty-five point lead over Jamey Caudill for the 2005 Championship Standings. This should be a great opportunity for Caudill to close the gap on McCall. Coastal Plains is the Speedway were Caudill earned a NASCAR Weekly Regional Championship and has won two of his five UARA STARS victories at Coastal Plains.
2004 UARA STARS Champion Jason York turned in a second place finish in both STARS events last season and should be a strong contender for the win. Jamie Yelton hopes to turn his season around with a top five finish. Other strong competitors for the event include Brandon Ward, RA Brown, Mark King, Keith Stiltner, Ashley Huffman, and Robert Elliott.
Kirk Leone has also entered the event; Leone was the outside pole setter for the last event in 2004 and finished in the top five. Leone also won a UARA STARS event last season at Newport Speedway. Local favorite Mike Blue should also be a strong front runner.
Qualifying for the UARA STARS drivers will be at 5:00 pm with a pit party on the front straight away at 7:00 and racing action beginning at 8:00.
