McCall claims second UARA STARS victory of 2005 in East TN Trailers 150 at Anderson Motor Speedway
Anderson, SC (May 29) – Denver, NC driver Matt McCall claimed his second victory of the 2005 UARA STARS season in the East TN Trailers 150 at Anderson Motor Speedway. McCall also extended his points lead over Jason York who had a bad night and finished a disappointing twenty-third place finish.
McCall started off the night alone side pole setter Lee Tissot with both drivers breaking the late model stock track record from a year ago. Tissot would get the jump at the drop of the green flag. McCall would fall back to third before getting inline behind Marty Ward.
Tissot lead the first forty laps when a hard charging Ward made his way to the point. Ward would lead past the halfway point but would give way to Tissot when Ward got caught up in lapped traffic. With fifty laps remaining McCall started making his way to the front by passing Ward and then passing Tissot for the lead with twenty-laps remaining.
McCall would go on to win with Tissot holding onto second and the RH2way Rookie of the race Kyle Grissom coming away with his best UARA STARS finish coming home in third. The real story for Grissom began was finishing finials at school and making his way to the track just in time to qualify ninth and finish third with no practice on Friday at the Speedway.
Ward would finish tenth after contact between him and fifth place runner RA Brown on the back straight sent Ward spinning. 2002 Champion Danny O’Quinn return to STARS racing with a strong fifth place finish. Tony Grady would end the night with his best finish of the season coming from twenty-first to sixth.
