UARA STARS to kickoff 2005 season at Hickory Motor Speedway with Second Annual Joe Walker Memorial 150

Hendersonville, NC (March 8) – UARA STARS Late Model Touring Series will kick off its 2005 racing season Saturday March 19^th with the second annual Joe Walker Memorial 150. The off season has been a great success for UARA Officials. New drivers, new sponsors and new tracks are on tap for 2005.

Over fifty drivers have signed up to run races in 2005 with twenty five already pre-enter for the Joe Walker Memorial. “We are excited about this first race as well as the season; we worked hard over the winter talking to drivers, engine builders, car owners, tracks and sponsors. We have been able to bring everybody back from last year as well as add some new sponsors. The only driver we lost from 2004 was UARA Rookie of the Year Steve Wallace. Steve has moved on to Hooters Pro Cup”, commented Public Relations Manager Harold Crook.

An open practice is set for Friday March 18^th, beginning at 10 am and lasting until dark. Pit gates will open Saturday at 9 am, with practice starting at 12 and qualifying at 5. There will be an autograph session on the front straight away at 7 pm. Support divisions will be Legends, Thunder Roadsters, and VA Old Timers.
